South Tower Collapse
Photo of the South Tower Demolition Wave from the South
This photograph shows the South Tower from the south,
just as the demolition wave is reaching the 44th floor sky-lobby.
It looks as though the rising cloud of dark smoke is emerging from
the top of the South Tower's dust cloud,
but in fact most of the smoke is from the still-standing North Tower,
directly behind the South Tower.
Building 7
is the sleek bronze building dominating the background.
The photograph was taken around eight seconds after the tower's
top started to fall.
