Column Failure Would Not Level the Towers
- All 287 columns would have to have weakened to the point
of collapse at the same instant to cause the telescoping
seen in North Tower.
Asymmetric damage cannot produce such a symmetric result.
- Even if simultaneous column failure caused the building to start
crushing itself straight down, it would either stop,
or be deflected to the side and topple.
- Of collapse causes other than controlled demolition,
only earthquakes can cause the simultaneous damage
needed to cause total collapse.
