Attack Victims

The 9/11/01 attack killed nearly 3000 people in one day. The attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq, for which '9/11' served as a pretext, may kill hundreds of thousands of people. A less acknowledged group of victims includes the tens of thousands of people subjected to exposures of toxic chemicals, including asbestos. The impacts of these exposures will continue to be felt by people for decades and generations.

WTC Families for Proper Burial This site was created by survivors of those killed in the attack on the World Trade Center to call for the proper burial of human remains. It calls for the removal of human remains from the Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island in order to inter them in a dignified fashion. The organization has a petition to Governor Pataki, Mayor Bloomberg, and Members of the City Council seeking these measures: To ensure the removal from The Fresh Kills landfill of the “ashen remains” of those killed on September 11, 2001. To place these ashen remains in appropriate containers.
