Numerous documentaries about the September 11th attack have appeared in the eight years since the event. The official explanation of the World Trade Center destruction is uniformly supported by mainstream productions such as NOVA's, whereas serious challenges to that explanation are found in a handful of independently produced films, mostly eclipsed by less credible efforts in a field full of easily-ridiculed wares promoted as 9/11 truth. This page highlights documentaries about the World Trade Center destruction based on several criteria, including historic import and originality.

Because the claim that no Boeing crashed into the Pentagon has been shown to lack scientific merit and has been used effectively as a smokescreen to discredit challenges to the official account the World Trade Center's destruction, videos promoting this claim are distinguished here from those whose analysis is not so encumbered.

	The Emerging Science Around the 9/11 World Trade Center Destruction by Kevin Ryan On September 12, 2009, the Economics & Political Science Department of Keene State College and the Monadnock 9/11 Truth Alliance hosted a talk in Keene, New Hampshire by Kevin Ryan titled “The Emerging Science Around the 9/11 World Trade Center Destruction”. In this talk, Ryan presents the tangled web that weaves together the companies, agencies, and personalities which may have played a role in the destruction of the World Trade Center on 9/11/01. Also included is an interview with Niels Harrit shown on mainstream television in Denmark. 	Scientific and Ethical Questions by Steven Jones owebsite="www.septembereleventh.org" owebpage="www.septembereleventh.org/donations.php"> This video captures a slide presentation by Dr. Steven Jones examining the fate of the three World Trade Center towers. Jones first looks at the case of the total collapse of WTC Building 7, noting its symmetry and rapidity, and contrasting it with other cases of skyscraper fires (which didn't induce collapse) and earthquake-induced collapses of high-rise buildings (which weren't symmetric). Jones then looks at the Twin Towers, showing details of their construction and noting the properties of steel. He explains how NIST, failing to experimentally verify floor collapses, based their report on computer models, which they refused to publish. Jones explains the how thermite and variants of it can be used to cut steel, and how reports of molten metal and sulfidated steel are consistent with the use of thermite. The second half of the presentation covers more general issues surrounding the 9/11/01 attack, such as fabricated evidence of bin Laden's guilt, administration foreknowledge, and aspects of the imperial agenda enabled by the attack. 	A New Standard for Deception by Kevin Ryan This video, the subject of this detailed review, captures a presentation by Kevin Ryan, a former lab manager and scientist at Underwriters Laboratories. Ryan explains details of the investigation by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) not acknowledged by the Institute, such as its failure to experimentally verify the floor pancake theory, forcing it to invent a new theory about the Towers' collapse. Ryan notes commonalities in the WTC investigations by NIST and FEMA, and the investigation of the 1995 Oklahoma City Building, such as a high degree of overlap in the leaders of the respective investigations. 	Flights of Fancy/Truth and Politics by David Ray Griffin This video contains two illustrated talks by David Ray Griffin: Part I is based on his October 3, 2004 speech in Santa Rosa, CA; and Part II is based on his October 12, 2004 speech in Montpelier, VT. Part I is essentially a summary of Griffin's second book on the 9/11/01 attack, The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions. Griffin gave this talk prior to the book's publication. Part II is about the various official accounts of military response to the attack. This video supplements each speech with added images and video clips to illustrate Griffin's points. 	The Great Deception by Barry Zwicker This multi-part presentation, mostly in the form of a monologue, covers all of the most glaring problems with the official story of September 11th. Zwicker looks at historical precedents to 9/11/01 such as the Pearl Harbor attack, the assassination of Martin Luther King, and the Kuwaiti incubator baby fraud. The Great Deception has a number of minor errors, including: Using an animation that depicts all of the commandeered jetliners taking off simultaneously, instead of staggered. Staring that the towers fell faster than free-fall, when in fact they fell at a rate that was about 50 percent slower than free-fall speed. 	9-11: The Road to Tyranny by Alex Jones This has very little material about the 9-11 attack. However, it thoroughly exposes the fraud of the Oklahoma City bombing, showing numerous excerpts from local television news coverage relating reports by first responders of the recovery of undetonated explosives in the building. 	World Trade Center - Anatomy of the Collapse (2001) by Steve Spak Productions This documentary uses computer graphics to explain the collapses of the Twin Towers. It blames a flaw in the design of the Twin Towers for their total collapse. A simulation of the initiation of a collapse explains that the floors held up the walls. It shows perimeter walls bowing out immediately following the severing of connections between the trusses under a floor and the walls. 	WTC - The First 24 Hours (2002) by Étienne Sauret, director This video has begins with a high-resolution close-up of the beginning of the North Tower's destruction, and is followed by video footage of Ground Zero taken within the first 24 hours of the attack. The video lacks commentary, the audio consisting only of the sounds of the original footage. 	9/11 - The Filmmakers' Commemorative Edition (2002) by James Hanlon and Rob Klug, directors This video is based on the video taken on 9/11/01 by filmmakers Jules and Gedeon Naudet, who were in New York City filming a documentary on the FDNY. The Naudet brothers accompanied FDNY personnel to the World Trade Center after the attack started, and filmed the only known footage of the inside of the North Tower after the first jetliner crash.	amazon.com

Videos Mixing Challenges to the Official Account with Promotion of the Pentagon "No-Boeing" Claim

	Painful Deceptions (2 hours) by Eric Hufschmid The precursor of this 2003 video was The 9-11 Scam. Painful Deceptions is more tightly edited, but lacks some of the details of information in the earlier video. Painful Deceptions has less on the destruction of the Twin Towers than the companion book Painful Questions but it has persuasive 20-minute segment on Building 7. Painful Deceptions has much more than the book on the Pentagon attack, but the Pentagon segments feature a good deal of sloppy or even deceptive analysis. The errors include: It asserts that the attack plane made almost no sound, when in fact eyewitnesses describe the roar of jet engines. It goes into a lengthy digression about vapor trails based on a Pentagon CCTV video frame to promote his missile theory, without considering alternative explanations such as engine damage from light-pole impacts. It misrepresents the Pentagon eyewitness evidence, cherry-picking a few examples and implying they represent the eyewitnesses as a whole. It makes most of the common errors in evaluating the Pentagon attack physical evidence. It suggests a rescue dog could find no human remains, when no one disputes that at least 125 people in the building were killed in the attack. Although this video was influential at one time, Hufschmid has since lost what credibility he once had by publicly embracing Holocaust denial and accusing scores of people with being part of a vast "Zionist criminal network".	amazon.com
